About us

When the Department of Health set out its agenda for Care in the Community, many psychiatric hospitals up and down the country gradually closed over the years, shifting mental health care to the community settings. Whilst there are some excellent facilities provided by statutory bodies, some of the needs are still not met. Private care homes became top on the agenda to provide for some unmet needs.

Hart Care Group is very much aware of these unmet needs. The group is run and organised by mental health specialists and professionals with extensive experience, knowledge and skills, working in collaboration with statutory staff to deliver mental health care in the community aimed at the highest level.

We provide a rehabilitation service for individuals based on the person-centred approach for people with mental health problems.

Hart Care Group currently has 3 residential homes - Hart House (10 bedded unit in Southend-On-Sea, Essex), Hart View (8 bedded unit in Westcliff-On-Sea, Essex ) and Hart Lodge (11 bedded in Chadwell Heath, Essex).

The following is an extract from the inspection report by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on one of the homes.

"The home provides accommodation for rehabilitation for service users following a comprehensive assessment. The manager is a first level registered mental health nurse and the home employs the services of a clinical advisor who has relevant qualifications and experience in management of mental illness. Service users are actively involved in treatment with the home's Care Programme Approach.

Staff have built positive relationships with service users living at the home and are aware of the complex individual and group needs and act in an appropriate manner to meet these needs.

Service users are encouraged and supported to maintain independence and develop a wide range of practical, social and emotional skills in order to assist them to move on from the home."
